Speak to Me

I had to share this with you because I love it! They recited Chief Dan George at the Winter Olympics, so after I heard it I immediately looked it up. I've been doing a lot of hiking lately because it is just so beautiful out - the hills behind my house are green and there are more species of wildflowers out than I have ever seen. It's just amazing. I had a friend who wondered why I walk so much, since I am not walking with the purpose of reaching a specific place. I think this explains well why I do what I do.

The beauty of the trees,

the softness of the air,

the fragrance of the grass speaks to me.

The summit of the mountain,

the thunder of the sky,

The rhythm of the sea, speaks to me.

The faintness of the stars,

the freshness of the morning,

the dewdrop on the flower, speaks to me.

The strength of the fire,

the taste of salmon,

the trail of the sun,

and the life that never goes away, they speak to me

And my heart soars.

- Chief Dan George

Of what does it speak? God's amazing glory. And my heart soars.
