Relaxing, Relaxing, and more Relaxing

Hola amigos!

Well, not much has happened to share on here today. Really, I just went home last night and had some kind of stew for dinner - very good (as all the food seems to be). Anne and I practiced the names of body parts in Spanish, read awhile and then went to bed after a cold shower, of course. I still can't bring myself to really going under the water. I hate the shock of cold water on my torso so I usually just stick my head, arms and legs under it and then splash the rest. I am a wimp, I know. :) I get goose bumps the whole time. They say after a week you will get used to it - we'll see!

I have two bites of some sort - but I am careful not to itch them. I forgot any bug spray, so I should probably go buy some. They really don't bite much though - I see others with bites covering their legs. No malaria here, just dengue fever, which I would like to avoid. Dengue fever is very uncommon though (so don't worry mom and dad).

Well, I am not sure that the trip to Manuel Anotonio is going to happen because there may not be enough people to go. If not though, Anne and I have already planned to go into Santa Cruz to go shopping since the shopping in Playa Tamarindo is just as expansive as back at home (if not more in some cases). They know how to make a tourist trap here for sure. I also emailed a pastor that Pastor Mike at my church gave me contact info for to ask about the church service times. I think it would be great to experience church here. If that doesn't work out, there is a very nice girl here from Norway who attends a church that is mostly English speaking here in Tamarindo on Sundays, so I may join her as well.

I will come back tan and spotted (since I spot more than tan these days) because we spend so much time at the pool or on the beach. This is certainly a relaxing place to be. All I've done this morning is sit in the sun, dip in the pool, study a bit, and read. I do hope I get to see and do more, but at the same time, this may be just what I needed after the stressful and busy fall. I plan to stay here at the school this evening and eat dinner in town. Later we will take salsa lessons and then go out and use our newly acquired skills (yeah...we'll see how skillful I am!). At least I can say "Yo bailar muy malo!"

I heard more howler monkeys this morning - such curious things! Seriously, you'd think it was a horror film - or maybe more like a dinosaur film. In fact, I bet they have used recorded howler monkeys to make dinosaur films before - someone look that up and post on here if it is true! I also had a crazy dream about school that it was back to school night and I had people (subs of some sort) in my room taking over my presentations. I also had a full room of parents. The parents started to get unhappy because I couldn't get my stuff together since these strange people had moved everything around. Weird but true (and Katrina - in case you are reading this - you were in it too - as an administrator - the others were subs and I was grateful you were there because I needed you to order them out). Anyway, it was weird. Even on vacation, you can't get away from work!

I think I'll walk into town. I need to scope out the deal with coffee. The coffee here is sooo good. It is not bitter or very acidic and I hardly need to put milk in it or sugar (for those of you that know - I can barely tolerate coffee in the states like that - I need mochas or lattes). Anyway, I have been told I can't take much home. We'll see about that...

Adios! Pura Vida!
